Amusement parks are places where you and your family go to have some fun and entertainment. If you thought that they were dangerous places to go to, you would be unlikely to go there.
However, accidents can happen just about anywhere and from time to time accidents do happen at amusement parks just as they can in more mundane places like supermarkets or sidewalks.
If you are injured anywhere outside your home, in a public place, you are right to expect that you should be safe from injury. If safety standards are lax and you have an accident then you should consider taking legal action. A personal injury claim is a legitimate response if you think you have sufficient proof that someone else was to blame for your injuries.
What Goes on at Disney World?
Few people in the U.S. have not heard of Disney World in Florida. Many have been there, either as a child, or have taken their family there or spent a holiday there. The resort complex is massive, taking up over 40 square miles near Orlando in Florida. The resort is a mixture of traditional amusement park attractions like rides as well as theme parks including Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, golf courses and hotels.
The resort was originally designed to complement the older Disneyland complex in California and serve as somewhere that people in the Eastern states could more easily get to. Since the resort was opened in 1971, it has attracted millions of visitors, with over 50 million visitors recorded last year. Perhaps because of the sheer size of Disney World it is not surprising that accidents do happen from time to time. Not all of these are the fault of employees of the resort or the management team, but accidents where mistakes have been made or negligence is involved are possible, too.
Potential Personal Injury Accidents at Disney World
With over 50 million annual visitors (equivalent to 1 in 6 of the U.S. population), accidents are likely to happen somewhere in the resort at some time every year. Because there are many different attractions, it is impossible to generalize about the types of accidents that could happen. They range from slip and fall type accidents, burns and electrocutions, traffic accidents, fires and even snake bites. Around 100 personal injury lawsuits against Disney World are filed every year on average, but not all of these are successful and not all of them are necessarily justified.
Making a Personal Injury Claim Against an Amusement Park or Resort
Amusement parks and resorts are like all places provided for public entertainment. It is expected under state and federal laws that the safety of the public is a priority. If you, or someone in your family, is injured while visiting an amusement park or resort like Disney World, you may be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against a particular employee or the company itself if you think that you were not to blame.
Because of the size of Disney World, it is advisable that you seek help from an experienced personal injury attorney if you are contemplating claiming for compensation as a result of an accident which was not your fault. As with all premises liability claims, it must be established very clearly who or what was at fault and how the accident caused your particular injuries.
